Volunteer Ambassadors must be over 18 years old.

Regional Fundraiser and Marketeer will be your main point of contact at WeAfric. They will work closely with you to get to know you, support you, provide all of the information and training that you need and help you to make the most out of your experience as a Volunteer Ambassador.

Within a few days of your application being submitted, your local Regional Fundraiser and Marketeer will call you to find out more about you and talk through your answers. This is a chance for you to find out more about the role and WeAfric and for us to get to know you, your skill set and interests. There is no formal interview process, however if it is felt after this call or completing the training that you are not the right fit for the Volunteer Ambassador role, we will offer you other volunteering options with WeAfric.

Most people who apply to be a Volunteer Ambassador will be invited to a two hour training and induction session (either face to face or virtually through Zoom). Your Regional Fundraiser will then be on hand to provide any ongoing training and support you need.If someone is felt not to be right for the Volunteer Ambassador role for whatever reason, they will be offered other volunteering opportunities within the charity.

No. This role involves supporting the marketing and fundraising team by representing WeAfric at events, promoting fundraising activity and raising awareness of WeAfric. You will not be working with vulnerable groups within the African diaspora community, but by helping WeAfric to raise more funds, you will be enabling us to support more individuals and families who would benefit from the specialist and compassionate support of WeAfric service.

We ask for Volunteer Ambassadors to commit to volunteering with WeAfric for at least twelve months if possible.

We ask Volunteer Ambassadors to do a minimum of twelve activities (or ‘engagements’) for WeAfric each year. Further details about the different types of activities the role involves are available in the Volunteer Ambassador Role Profile.

This role is very flexible, so it can fit around your daily life and other commitments. We will sometimes ask you to attend events at specific times to represent WeAfric, but you always have the option to say no if this does not work for you. Most activities are likely to be in the evening or at the weekend.

Volunteer roles are unpaid. You are free to apply for any jobs that come up within WeAfric on our vacancies page.

Yes, we can cover reasonable out of pocket expenses for anything related to your volunteer role, on presentation of receipts. This might include travel to and from an event or postage costs. Further details about what is eligible for expenses are included in the Volunteer Agreement you will receive after completing the Volunteer Ambassador training.

Yes, we request the details of two references. Once you have completed the Volunteer Ambassador training and confirmed you want to proceed with the role, we will get in touch with your referees. During the registration process, you will need to provide the names and contact details of two people who have known you for at least twelve months, are over 18 years of age and are not related to you.

Once you have been a Volunteer Ambassador for six months, we would be happy to provide you with a reference.

Privacy - no-one is spying on you or using your information (or your members' information) for any reason.

‍Control - on other social networks, any group could be shut down at any time, for any reason, without notice or recourse. You don't own, and can't typically export, your data.

‍Fulfilment - it's fulfilling to be able to engage with your community in a meaningful way without all the noise and interference. Typical social network sites are plagued with unnecessary adds and unwarranted requests to connect.

Absolutely! Even though WeAfric is a relatively new service, the company behind it has been around for 12 years Creative Onestop.com. We ourselves are part of the African diaspora community and our reputation hinges on maintaining your trust. You will own your data and we do our best to ensure that it is safe and secure.

The full web design process is being undertaken in-house while aspects of the mobile and web App developments will be outsourced. Generally speaking, it takes approximately 6-10 months to build a social networking site from start to finish, providing we get all the information and the funds. So we do need your help!

The signing up for an account on the platform will be free — anyone can create a free personal or business page account. However, as much as we try to keep costs down, creating, maintaining and monitoring a social media platform can be a very expensive undertaking and time-consuming. Hence, WeAfric will have both a free basic service, as well as a paid version that will have more features and options.
