The vibrant and culturally enriching Focus Africa Festival: Music & Fashion Show held on Saturday, 29th July, in London, left attendees awestruck with its captivating blend of rhythmic melodies and dazzling fashion. Organized by Focus Africa in partnership with The Africa Centre, Arts Council England and Creative Resilience International, the festival took place at the renowned Rich Mix in Shoreditch, adding to its allure.
The Musical Delight
The festival's primary focus was on the music, and it certainly did not disappoint. For eight hours straight, the audience was immersed in the pulsating beats and enchanting sounds of live performances by some of the finest musicians from Africa. From the soulful tunes of Yaaba Funk from Ghana to the electrifying energy of Grupo Lokito from Congo DRC – UK, and the hypnotic melodies of Koroleko and Moussa Dembele from Burkina Faso, each act left an indelible mark on the hearts of all present.
Fashion Takes Center Stage
What set this year's Focus Africa Festival apart was the introduction of a carefully curated fashion component. The runway came alive with a dazzling display of creativity and talent, showcasing emerging and frontier fashion designers from Africa and the African Diaspora. The fashion show featured impressive collections from renowned names like Lisou London, Soboye, Kwame Koranteng, Denim Recon, Massassi B, YouMeeWee, George Adesegun, Re:I.D., Anderson Rodrigues, MultiCulture, Matthew Eluwande, and Kutivz Kouture. Their artistic expressions celebrated African culture and heritage, making it a remarkable addition to the festival.
